Police call scalping suspect 'child predator's Crime: Investigators find possible links between gruesome attack and social rules of 'punker' group

NAMPA -- Police said a 26-year-old woman suspected of removing part of a Nampa girl's scalp preys on child victims, was still at large Tuesday night and remains a threat to others.

Officers believe she is in the Caldwell area and is hiding out with friends.

Investigators released new information about the suspect accused of assaulting the 16-year-old and extensive details depicting the violent attack at Kirkham Hot Springs on Jan. 18.

Chief Boise County Deputy Bill Braddock said the suspect, Marianne Dahle, is considered "a sexual and psychological predator adult who is looking for child victims."

The teenage victim appeared in a television interview where she showed a large scar on her head and talked about her terrifying encounter.

The victim and suspect belonged to the same group of friends, who consider themselves to be "punkers," and one of their social rules is not to disrespect women.

Witnesses said the suspect may have scalped the girl in an act of retaliation because the girl said or did something considered disrespectful of women.

The case has taken time to put together because witnesses and friends of the victim were fearful about talking with investigators.

The removed area of scalp was found at Kirkham Hot Springs by Boise County authorities, not taken to the hospital with the victim.

Dahle has a criminal record in Idaho and Washington.

The victim concealed her identity from police during her first hours of treatment.

Officials said the suspect is believed to use physical coercion in manipulating juveniles.

I read this in the newspaper yesterday. This really shocked and sickened me. I've never heard of this underground subculture,but as a parent it's pretty scary to think about. I usually regret reading the news.
